The Pool Blade awards are designed to be taken in the warm environment of a swimming pool and involve a number of kayaking skills . The awards consist of practical and a small theory section and are the perfect indroduction to kayaking. To see the specific info for the award click on the heading.
This level indicates the candidate is comfortable paddiling in both directions and stopping and turning in a swimming pool. The person is also happy in the water with the boat e.g. capsize with spraydeck on, paddle siting outside the kayak

The candidate has participated in a min of 8 pool sessions and is happy self rescuing with no help. They can also move the kayak sideways
and can demonstrate recovery strokes and show good commitment. They are also happy doing several different rescues.

This award involves doing rescues, lots of diferent rolls, bracing and supervising a level one group for two sessions.
This award involves a lot of rolling and upside down work + lots of commitment to support strokes. You also have to pass on your skills to students working for their level 2.
